Official 13-Card Indian Rummy Rules & Valid Sets
In 13-Card Rummy, each player is dealt 13 cards from a standard 52-card deck (often played with 2 decks and printed jokers for tables of 3 to 6 players). The primary objective is to arrange all 13 cards into valid sequences and sets.
1. Pure Sequence (Mandatory)
A consecutive run of 3 or more cards of the exact same suit without using any wild joker (e.g. 4♠-5♠-6♠). Every valid declaration must have at least one pure sequence.
2. Impure Sequence
A consecutive run of 3 or more cards of the same suit using a wild or printed Joker to substitute for missing cards (e.g. 7♦-PJ-9♦).
3. Valid Sets
A group of 3 or 4 cards of the exact same face rank across distinct suits (e.g. K♠-K♦-K♣). Duplicate suits in the same set are invalid.
